Branca Tas was a daughter of Salomon Levie Tas and Betje Hijman Content. She married Jacob Levie de Wilde (also known as Jacques) in 1899 in Amsterdam. The couple had six children: Rachel, Salomon, Cerline and Debora, who lived in Belgium with her family. About two other children little is known. Jacob Levie de Wilde died in 5 April 1909 from hart failure. For years Branca Tas was financially supported by her husbands brother, Abraham de Wilde.

Branca Tas was a very resolute woman. She provided in her own living by means of diamond processing. She worked at home. There she had a number of assistants working for her.
In order to save money Branca walked home from the Bijenkorf (in the centre of town) to the Watergraafsmeer. Buying a tram tickett was a waste of money.
