Esther Colthof was a child of the Colthof family living at the Galileïplantsoen in Amsterdam. The Colthof family was forced to move to the Jewish quarter of the city, where they settled at the Transvaalkade. The parents of Esther and another child in the family survived the war. After the war, Esther Colthof was buried at the urnfield at the Jewish cemetery in Diemen.

Esther Colthof died on 27 November 1943 in Westerbork transit camp and she was cremated on 1 December 1943. The urn with her ashes was placed on the Jewish cemetry in Diemen on field U, row 13, grave nr. 26.
