Emanuel Zwaab was a son of Philip Zwaab and Judith Blog. He married in Amsterdam on 4 August 1937 to Marianna Leisen, daughter of Andries Leisen and Sophia Salomon. They had a son Andries in 1940.
Emanuel had six other siblings: Joanna, Rosalie, Gerard, Joel, Reina and Dora.
