Barend Scholte was a son of Joseph Scholte and Rebecca Gobitz. He married 16 August 1922 in Amsterdam Marianne Wegloop, a daughter of Mozes Wegloop and Esther van Stratum. The couple had four children, of whom Rebecca has married Salomon Haak in July 1942. The other at home living children were Maurits, Esther and Jannie. They have been all killed during the Holocaust.
Barend was born in a family with five children, of whom four of them have been killed during the Holocaust: himself, Hijman, Israel and Leentje.
