Benjamin Levie (known as Ben) was the son of Mozes Gerson Levie (born in Roden in 1839) and Anna Bendiks (born in Veendam in 1850). He was one of 10 children in the family. Benjamin Levie was a cattle dealer. Benjamin ran a cattle dealership with his brothers Gerson and Jozef on the Javastraat in Assen, where they owned an old farm. They also sold animal feed products.
Benjamin Levie was sent to Orvelte, one of the Jewish labour camps. From the labour camp, he and his brother Jozef requested the Assen chamber of commerce to close their business.
