Jacob and his wife Rebecca (born Felleman) managed to flee the Shoah. Rebecca and Jacob appear on a passenger manifest departing from Lisbon, Portugal to Havana, Cuba in January 1942, through Switzerland. Jacob's daughter married a Swiss man, which likely helped them procure the visas.
Jacob and Rebecca made their way to the USA in March 1942 and naturalized as American citizens on 8 July 1948. Rebecca died in Switzerland in 1957; Jacob's death date has not been determined at this time.
