Verhaal

Dora Jonas

Dora Jonas was born 19.6.1910, in Waldbreitbach, Germany to Wulf and Berta. She was single.

Before the war, she worked in Amsterdam for Robert Salomon. Her sister, Elli Jonas (Nussbaum), worked for Iwan Salomon (Robert's father).

During the war she was in Amsterdam, awaiting her fiance - a soldier. Although given the opportunity to leave Amsterdam with her sister, Dora chose to wait there for the arrival of both her parents and fiance. She was taken away just before their expected arrival from Germany. Her employer, Robert Salomon was visiting his parents in Canada at that time.

Dora was murdered in the Shoah.

Much of this information is based on the document "Jonas, Dora, born 1910, Waldbreitbach, Germany", Page of testimony submitted to Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, April 1989, by Elli Jonas Nussbaum (Dora Jonas's sister) who lived at 499 Fort Washington Ave, New York, NY 10033, USA, See: yadvashem.org

In addition, this was supplemented with information shared in an interview with decedents of the Salomon family, 21.4.2020.
