Verhaal

Martin Sternfeld was born to parents Ephraim Sternfeld and Henriette Lapidas on March 8, 1911 in Rugenwalde/Pom (East Prussia)(Germany).  He was the only son born and he had 6 sisters, the siblings were in this order, Dora, Hildegard, Edith, Elfriede, Martin, Carlotta, Ruth. Carlotta was born with Downs Syndrome and died of pneumonia when she was about 2 years old. Ephraim and Henriette and Edith were Holocaust victims just like Martin.  Ephraim and Henriette were captured in Berlin, Germany on March 3, 1943 and deported to Auschwitz.  Martin and Edith were captured in Holland trying to escape from the Nazis.  The rest of the family escaped.  Martin was a legal scholar. 

Before Martin's capture, he did marry a girl named "Molly"  Her real name was Malvina Jeschonek born on July 13, 1914 in Zurich, Switzerland.  Her parents were Joseph Jeschonek and Pauline Schweitzer.  She was also Jewish.  His wife was able to escape but Martin wasn't so lucky.  They did not have time to have children.  She made it to the USA and remarried.  Her new last name was Herzfeld.  She died in Abington, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania on July 25, 1994.  She is buried in Jenkintown, Pennsylvania.  It is unknown if she had children with her new husband.

Malvina and Martin got married in Amsterdam, Holland on December 8, 1937. They were living temporarily with Martin's parents from November 1937 to early December 1937.  

Martin was living at Amsterdam, Atadianstraat 9 and transported to Westerborg. Martin was trying to escape the Nazis when he was shot to death at 9:45 in the morning on September 16, 1941 in Mauthausen, Upper Austria.
