Hans came to the Netherlands on November 22nd, 1938. He lived in Den Dolder, the orphanage in Utrecht, Huis ten Vijver in Scheveningen, a family The Hague, and in the "Jongenshuis" in Arnhem, between November 17th, 1941 and May 11th, 1942.
Hans fled to his uncle in Antwerpen.
His parents were Erna Grünebaum, born in 1898 in Rendelburg, and David, born in 1897 in Egelsbach. In 1941 they were living in Frankfurt am Main, Rohrbachstr. 57. They were taken to Terezin in September 1942.
Hans came to the Netherlands with his cousin Berthold David Grünebaum, born on July 26th, 1931. But Berthold went to Belgium with his parents in 1940.
Hans went to the MULO while he was living in The Hague.
