The Schaefer family lived at Paulsborner Str. 93 in Berlin-Wilmersdorf prior to emigrating to Amsterdam in the late 1930s. Herbert, a merchant (Kaufmann) by profession, was arrested in Brussels between 10.-15.05.1940 and deported via Le Fauga-Mazères to St.-Cyprien Camp, and sometime thereafter to Gurs Camp, where he died.
