Nathan Swart was the seventh child of Jesaja Swart and Saartje Levitus. He was born at 10 Rapenburgerstraat in Amsterdam. He completed the Jewish school on the Rapenburgerstraat and then became a basket maker. He never married. In March 1942 he was assigned to work at the Jewish labour camp Landweer. Like all other Jewish men at Jewish labour camps, he was transferred to Westerbork on 2 October 1942 and subsequently deported to Auschwitz. En route he was taken from the train together with a group of other Jewish men at Kosel and transferred to Camp Blechhammer, where he helped build a factory for synthetic petrol. As the Russian troops advanced, Nathan Swart was sent on the death march via Auschwitz to Gross Rosen and from there in a coal car to Camp Buchenwald, where he perished.
