The fate of Maria Frisca Fuld

Spouse of Marius Philip Pieter Huijzer, mother of Eva and Lena Fuld and of Jeannetta Wieka Sophia Huijzer.

The eldest daughter of Louis Fuld and Jeannetta de Winter, Maria Frisca Fuld was born on 9 September 1910. She got pregnant with twins who were born on 27 February 1933 in Rotterdam, viz. Eva and Lena, who were given the surname Fuld and recognized/legalized by the mother. When she was 24 years of age, Maria Frisca left her parental home on 4 April 1934.

Only on 19 May 1937 Maria married the non-Jewish Marius Philip Pieter Huijzer, who was born in 1893 in Groningen. Maria and Marius had another daughter together, on 19 September 1937, who was named Jeannetta Wieka Sophia Huijzer. As far as could researched, Eva and Lena Fuld survived the war, as did her husband the their daughter Jeannetta.

Maria Frisca Huijzer-Fuld, who meantime lived at Gerard Doustraat 177 in Den Haag with her family, was however arrested there on 10 July 1943 and carried off to Westerbork, where she ended up in barrack 97. Op 3 March 1944, she was deported to Auschwitz as a penal case as she occurred on a so-called “Sonderliste”- a special list. Upon arrival there on 6 March 1944 she was immediately muredered in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
