Gabriel Fonteijn, een slager afkomstig uit Katwijk, was weduwnaar van het Arnhemse meisje Clara Kelderman. Zij trouwden in 1881 in Amsterdam en kregen samen 5 kinderen, 4 dochters en één zoon. Clara overleed al voor de oorlog. Gabriel kwam om in Auschwitz in 1943.
