Brother of Greta Bierman-Soep.

Barend Soep, the brother of Greta Bierman-Soep, was born on 4 November 1924 in Amsterdam as the son of Isaac Soep and Klaartje Bloemist. Barend was unmarried and was a diamond worker by profession. He lived at home with his parents at Lepelstraat 95 2nd stock in the city-centre of Amsterdam.

Barend Soep was called up on 24 July 1942 for the so-called “Arbeitseinsatz in Germany” – the provision of additional work in Germany – to which he has responded. He received a Ticket To Hooghalen (BNH as listed on his registration card of the Jewish Council) (Hooghalen trainstation 5 km from Westerbork) and on the 25th he arrived in Westerbork. On 31 July he was put on transport to Auschwitz and upon arrival there ± 3 August 1942 he was put to work as a forced labourer there.

The registration card from the file cabinet of the Jewish Council of Barend Soep shows a not, that according to the Registry Office of Auschwitz, Bardend Soep has died on 22 September 1942 due to a cardiac arrest (listing 19c). But it appeared from the website Museum and Memorial Auschwitz-Birkenau/ Auschwitz prisoners that Barend Soep was murdered in Auschwitz on 22 September 1942.
