The fate of Sara Vos.

Sara Vos was the eldest daugter of Salomon Vos and Sientje Les. She was born in Amsterdam on 14 July 1885. Sara lived at home with her parents, moved always with them and in 1926 from Rapenburgerstraat 102 to Plantage Muidergracht 35, where then also other sisters and a brother of Sara lived. She remained unmarried and moved – most likely in 1940 – to Nieuwe Amstelstraat 28/30 in Amsterdam. As profession was registered by the municipality of Amsterdam “bread depot holder”.

It appeared from her registration card of the Jewish Council that Nieuwe Amstelstraat also had become her last known address in Amsterdam because from there, whe was carried off via the Hollandsche Schouwburg to Westerbork on 10 September 1942. Already the next day, on 11 September Sara was put on transport to Auschwitz and on arrival there on 14 September 1942, she was immediately killed in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau.
