Biography

About Henri van Stratum and his wife Elisabeth Penha.

Henri van Stratum, a grocery merchant, was the son of Jacob van Stratum and Anna Croonenberg. He was born in Eindhoven on 28 August 1882 and married in Antwerp on 19 September 1922 to Elisabeth Penha, who was born there on 29 March 1883 as the daughter of Mozes Penha and Rebecca Juliard. They both lived with their parents in Antwerp since 1897, where Henri later had his business at Tolstraat 49 and after his wedding, he lived with his wife  Elisabeth at Provinciestraat 147 in Antwerp. As far as could be ascertained, the Van Stratum-Penha couple had no children.

On 20 September 1943, Henri and Elisabeth were both deported with Convoy 22A from Mechelen to Auschwitz and on arrival on 23 September 1943, they were immediately murdered in the gas chambers of Auschwitz Birkenau.
