Biography

About Jacqes Emanuel Kloots.

Emanuel Kloots, born 2 November 1895 in Amsterdam, was a son of Samuel Kloots from Amsterdam and Annette Keijser from Nijmegen. His father, born in 1860 passed away 15 June 1924 and his mother 14 May 1937. Both were interred in the Jewish Cemetery at Muiderbeg.

Jacques Emanuel Kloots was married in Amsterdam on 18 January 1927 to the Paris born Henriette Céleste Benjamins, but on 3 Dember 1938 they divorced. Together they had two children: in 1928 Sem Jacques was born and in 1931 their daughter Isabella.

After her divorce, Henriette Céleste Benjamins remarried Willem Leopold Cohen and moved with him and her two children to Arnhem in 1939/1940. She was killed in Auschwitz on 12 October 1942. Her 2nd spouse was killed 31 January in Auschwitz and according documents her two children on 11 October 1942 in Monowitz.

Jacques Emanuel had four other sisters, namely Rachel, Keetje, Klara and Anna. His sister Rachel survived the war but her husband Joseph de Vries died 6 February 1942 in Amsterdam

His sister Keetje died in 1938 in Amsterdam; her husband Simon Okker was killed in Auschwitz on 6 March 1944.

Klara’s spouse Eduard Salomon Frankfort passed away 19 August 1920 in Laren (N.H.) at the age of 56 years. She survived the Shoah.

Jacques Emanuel’s youngest sister Anna was married to the Polish Jacob Ptasznik from Tarnow. Since 8 February 1938 they stayed 10 years in the Dutch East Indies and returned to Amsterdam in 1948.

Jacques Emanuel self has died during the war in Amsterdam on 21 November 1944.
