Biography

Hartog Polak was a son of Simon Polak and Bettje van Rhijn, a family with in total nine children. One child died in infancy, only 1 year old and one child has survived the Holocaust. All other children, namely Salomo, Philip, Harmannus, Bertha, Carolina, Anna and Hartog self have been killed in the Shoah. 

Hartog Married Eva Rosa Wijler on 26 January 1917 in Lochem, a daughter of Samuel Wijler and Martha de Groot. The couple had three children: Bettje, who was employed as a nurse in the Apeldoornse Bos, Samuel, a radio technician and Simon. They have been killed in Auschwitz.

Hartog and Eva Rosa were brought into camp Westerbork in the early days of October 1942 and were deported from there to Auschwitz on 9 October. Upon arrival in Auschwitz on 12 October 1942 they have been immediately killed.
