Biography

About Aron Worms

Aron Worms, known as Arie, was a son of Abraham Worms and Anna Bouwman. He married Jansje de Lieme in Zaandam on 6 May 1920, a daughter of Meijer de Lieme and Anna Rachel Italie. Aron and Jansje had a daughter Anna Rachel, who was born in 1925 in Antwerp. She was killed at age 18 in Sobibor.

Aron Worms was brought into camp Westerbork between 3 and 5 October 1942 and from there deported to Auschwitz on 19 October. He lost his life there eventually on 28 February 1943.

Obviously it was Aron permitted or he has succeeded in writing a letter  to his wife Jansje de Lieme; on his registration card from the archive of the Jewish Council a note was made that “a letter from Birkenau was received on 14 December 1942, addressed to Worms-de Lieme, Andreas Bonnstraat 20 Amsterdam”. It is not clear whether Aron’s wife Jansje has ever received this letter from her husband
