Gabriel van Gelderen, son of Isaac van Gelderen and Elisabeth de Leeuw, married 19 November 1894 in Rotterdam Flora Harpman, a daughter of Antonie Harpman and Sara Harkman. The couple had two stillborn children in 1896 and 1899; their son Abraham, born in 1905, died only 11 days old; their daughter Elisabeth, born 1895, passed away in 1927, unmarried, 31 years of age. Three sons, Antonie, Jacques and Isaac were killed in the Shoah.
Gabriel van Gelder deceased 19 Januari 1941 in Rotterdam and the funeral records at the Jewish cemetery in Rotterdam reveal that Gabriel van Gelderen was buried at Toepad. His last known address was Schiekade 15 a in Rotterdam, where also his widow Flora Harpman resided till she was sent from there to Camp Westerbork and from there deported to Auschwitz, where she was killed 5 November 1942.
