Maurits Hes was married. The couple had one child. They lived in Leidschendam. Maurits Hes was a lawyer and prosecutor. He was a member of the Ordedienst (OD) and he carried out spying activities for that organisation, namely in airports in the Netherlands and France. He was picked up on 29 April 1941 in Amsterdam and deported to Berlin via Scheveningen. In Berlin, he was prosecuted in court and given a death sentence. He was killed in the Berlin suburb Tegel at the age of 40.
