Walter Alexander Stiebel was a son of Salomon Stiebel and Bertha Frankel. The family lived in Palmstrasse 4 in Frankfurt am Main. Walter studied medicine from the mid 1920's at the university of Heidelberg. The family escaped to the UK in the early 1930's, but Walter could not obtain a visa due to ill health and could only proceed as far as the Netherlands.
