Hertog Godschalk was a son of Jacob Godschalk and Sara Meibergen. He married 22 December 1903 in Deventer to Roselie Cohen, daughter of Jozeph Cohen and Rebecca Meibergen. The couple had three sons: Jacobus Johan (who has survived the Holocaust), Johan Sallij Marinus and Marinus Jozeph Siegmund.
