Marcus Abraham Samson came to the Netherlands from Paramaribo in the late thirties, probably in the possession of a physician's degree. He established himself as a family doctor with a pharmacy in Emmer-Erfscheidenveen (Emmer Compascuum). He acquired the Dutch physician's degree in 1941. From June 1941 onwards, he had settled at 11a Vondelstraat in Assen.
