Judith Engelsman was the daughter of Isaac Engelsman (a diamond polisher) and Betje Polak. On 14 juli 1897 in Antwerp she was married to Maurits van Praag, who was also a diamond polisher by profesion. The couple had four children: Bertha, Jacques and two children who survived the war. Maurits van Praag died in 1918. Later Judith got married to Jacob Roos.
