Biography

About Adolph Winter.

Adolph Winter, born in 1916, was a son of Levie Winter and Roosje van Duren. His mother passed away in 1919, and his father remarried in Düsseldorf Else Vasen. However, he divorced her already in 1926 after a few years of marriage. Before the official registration of the divorce, his father left Düsseldorf for Holland with him, Adolph and his sisters Eva and Elisabeth where they lived in 1925 for some months at Linneausstraat 72 3rd floor in Amsterdam. Later in 1925 Adolph and his sisters were accommodated in Rotterdam in the family of his aunt Bertha Nijveen-Winter, a sister of his father and the wife of Samuel Nijveen. Later, he and his sisters have also lived with the Van Duren family in Arnhem and in Brussels.

Adolph Winter became a mechanic. He ended up in Zutphen where he married Ida Riethorst. They had one son who, together with his mother, survived the war. The last known address of Adolph Winter was in Zutphen, where he lived at Weg naar Voorst nr. 144. He has been killed in Mauthausen 1 November 1941.
