Biography

About Rachel Rubens-Kool

Rachel Kool was a daughter of Israël Kool and Saartje Goudsmit. Presumably in Brussels (Anderlecht), she married Samuel Rubens, a son of Karel Rubens and Roosje Hartveld. The couple had a son , Charles, also known as Karel, who was born in Brussels 22 June 1907.

The Dossier of Foreigners of the City of Antwerp, nr. 101053, images 664-676 show, that Samuel Rubens family has resided at Anderlecht, Berchem and Antwerp and the family registration card of Samuel Rubens list that they arrived 12 January 1917 from Antwerp in Rotterdam and were registered at the address Van Meekerenstraat 80 in Rotterdam.  The family registration card of Samuel Rubens and Rachel Kool does not list any removal inside the municipaliy of Rotterdam, which might indicate that Rachel's spouse Samuel, passed away in 1941 in Rotterdam, still resided at that address when he died and that Rachel Rubens-Kool was deported in 1942  from Van Meekerenstraat 80 to Camp Westerbork.

Rachel Rubens Kool was put on transport from Camp Westerbork to Auschwitz 12 October 1942 and upon arrival there, she was killed immediately 15 October 1942.

Her son Charles, also known as Karel, married 14 June 1933 in Rotterdam Berendina Verhagen, a daughter of Leendert Verhagen and Cornelia Voogt. Of him and his wife nothing is furhter known; they might have survived the war.
