Mathilda Helena Bertha Emma Gans, also known as Tilly, was the daughter of David Gans and Frederika (Fratchen) Schwartz. Her father had a butcher shop at the Wooldstraat in Winterswijk.
Tilly Gans had five sisters: Debora, Suzanna, Bethje and two sisters who survived the war.
