Gustav Wolf was born on 25 February 1873 in Bickenbach, Hessen, Germany. He was a son of Gabriel Wolf and Jettchen Suess.
Gustav and his brother Leo Wolf owned the Stabil-Union company, established in Frankfurt am Main. Stabil-Union was a commercial firm in machines and technical equipment. Gustav Wolf fled Germany on 16 March 1939. He moved to Van Slichtenhorststraat 16 in Nijmegen and esthablished himself there as a stateless citizen.
