Jesaija Canes was a son of Joseph Canes and Klaartje Viskoper. He married 25 August 1921 in Amsterdam to Sara Kroet, a daughter of Joseph Kroet and Heintje Schaap.
Jesaija Canes had nine siblings, of whom three little brothers have died at a very young age. The others, like he self, Rebecca, Mietje, Mozes, Jansje, Heintje and Betsij, have been killed during the Holocaust.
