Helena Gobitz was married to Jacobus Johannes Steffens. The couple had three children. Jacobus Steffens died in 1934 as a result of TBC. Helena Gobitz remarried around 1940.
Helena Gobitz was a member of the resistance. She delivered food for people who were in hiding. At the end of 1942 her parents moved into her house. On 1 April 1943 Helena and her parents were arrested in a rough manner. Because her children weren't mentioned on the arrest warrant, they managed to escape. They survived the war.
