Betje Zak was a daughter of Machiel Zak and Judith Olivier. She married 7 August 1918 in Amsterdam to Isaac Vreeland, a son of Machiel Vreeland and Sara Polak. The couple had two children.
Betje was born in a family with eleven children. Two of them have died in childhood. The other children, David, Hartog, Jacob, Branca, Sara, Marianne, Rachel and Rebecca, have been killed all during the Holocaust.
