Abraham Gobets was a son of Jacob Gobets and Betje Barend. He married 28 January 1925 in Amsterdam to Lea Roodveldt, a daughter of Isaac Roodveldt and Sophia Lisser. The couple had two children.
Abraham was born in a family with ten children, of whom four children have died before the war. His other siblings, namely Rebecca, Judith, Sophia, Catharina and David have been killed during the Holocaust.
