Sara de Rooy (de Rooij) was a daughter of Jacob de Rooij and Betje Vischschoonmaker. She married in Amsterdam on 16 June 1932 to Benedictus Kan, son of Samuel Kan and Debora Soesan. The couple had two children: Samuel and Jacob Jacques.
