Hartog Hammelburg was the son of Mozes Hammelburg and Beela Buitenkant. He married 6 December 1933 in Amsterdam to Sara Poons, a daughter of Meijer Poons and Flora Noord. He had two children.
Hartog Hammelburg had another brother Izaak and a sister Betje who also have been killed during the Holocaust.
