Esther van Linda was a daughter of Israel Simon van Linda and Sara Reijne. She married on 3 February 1897 to Jacob Nunes Vaz, (son of Abraham Nunes Vaz and Sara Bak), who passed away already before the war. The couple had ten children: Sara Nunes Vaz, Hendrika Nunes Vaz, Rebecca Nunes Vaz, Esther Nunes Vaz, Leendert Nunes Vaz, Joseph Nunes Vaz, Engeltje Nunes Vaz, Abraham Nunes Vaz, Aron Nunes Vaz en Andries Nunes Vaz.
