Rebekka Polak was a daughter of Izak Polak and Rachel de Leeuw. She had seven brothers and sisters of whom two died in Auschwitz and two in Sobibor. She married Nathan van Straten. He died in 1938. They had eleven children, of whom one survived the war. Four children died young. The other children were Levie, Rachel, Johanna, Maurits, Hendrina and Karel.
