Biography

About Meijer Nunes Nabarro

Meijer Nunes Nabarro was the son of the diamond-cutter Salomon Nunes Nabarro and Naatje Bed. He lived with a woman, but as far as is known they never married.
Meijer Nunes Nabarro performed as a comic and impersonator, mimicking Shirley Temple and others. His stage name ‘Bolletje’ derived from his ‘chubby’ [bol] appearance. Around 1920, Meijer made a record with the label Odeon. The song, ‘De terugkomst van manke Nelis’, was a sequel to the very well-known ‘De begrafenis van manke Nelis’. Meijer wrote his own songs and lyrics.
