Lothar Günsberg was the son of Jozef Günsberg and Berta Zwecher, who had died before the war. He came to the Netherlands together with his older sister Fanny Susanne Günsberg. They were placed in the Jewish orphanage of Leiden on 5 January, 1938. Their father settled in Valkenburg.
