About Levie Peper

Levie (Louis) Peper was a baker. He was arrested for participating in the resistance and killed in Neuengamme at age 59 on 16 May 1942. His remains were reburied at the Honour Cemetery in Bloemendaal.

Levie (Louis) Peper was the son of Hijman Saul Peper and Geertje Pruijm. His parents died before the war. Louis was married and had two children. His wife survived the war.
Louis was a town councillor for the Communist Party in Haarlem.
On 4 May 2005 a plaquette was unveiled in the council chamber of Haarlem with the names of town councillors who died in the war. The name of Louis Peper is mentioned on this plaquette.

Levie was born in a family with eleven children. Three of his siblings has been killed too during the Shoah: Samuel, Maria and Sara.
