An erstwhile local resident remembered having played with Leny and Caroline (Carry) in the Wilhelminasingel, during the war called Parksingel.

A girl, a former neighbour, saw a female member of the NSB chasing after Leny and Carry on horseback. The woman rode at the riding-stables in their street. She and her father were known as fanatical persecutors of Jews. Shortly after this incident, the family was deported.
