Abraham Englander and his wife Rozettha (Roosje) Englander-Berkleij and their son Aron Arend came to Amsterdam on 3 July 1942. They lived at the Plantage Middenlaan 16 house. On 1 October 1942 Abraham and Roosje moved without their son to the Molenbeekstraat 2 I.
During a raid on the street in the late afternoon, they were arrested.
Roosje was badly suffering from diabetes and she was not able to carry her own suitcase. That's why a member of the NSB hit her. Their neighbour, Leo Haagen, asked if he could carry her luggage. This was permitted by a German, who then sneered him as a friend of the Jews.
After curfew he was brought home by an SS'er on a motorbike.
On 9 June 1943 Abraham Englander and Roosje Englander-Berkleij were deportated to Germany.
