David Barents and his family

David Barents and Flora Roodenburg got married in Bussum on 26 April 1922. The couple got three children: Elisabeth, Eva and Salomon. In spring 1942 some Jewish families were forced to leave their houses in Bussum. They were brought to Amsterdam in buses. There they had to live in houses in the Transvaalarea that had been cleared out. The Barents family did not want to go into hiding. They were afraid to be treated as ‘criminals’ in case of arrest.
