Elfriede Kohen-Gans and her family

Elfriede Gans was the widow of Israël Salomon Kohen. They had besides their daughter Dina Sophia at least another child Alex Leopold.

The mayor of Heerde requested that Elfriede Kohen-Gans, the widow of Israël Salomon Kohen, and her daughter Dina Sophia Kohen, a saleswoman, both residing in Heerde, be located, detained and brought to trial. They had left their place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding.

Identifying characteristics of Elfriede Kohen-Gans: 'Thin face, black hair streaked with grey, has a protruding right or left hip and does not walk straight; often wore a dark-blue overcoat, black shoes and stockings; bareheaded.'

Identifying characteristics of Dina Sophia Kohen: 'Oval face, dark eyes, black hair, rather stern look, somewhat bent legs; often wore flowered dresses with a short blue woollen or grey-blue leather vest, light shoes and socks; pronounced Jewish appearance.'
