Anna Benjamin-Meijer and her family

Anna Benjamin-Meijer had three children. Two of them migrated in the 1930's and survived the war. When Anna Benjamin-Meijer and her daughter Erika fled from Wuppertal to the Netherlands, her husband stayed behind. He could not immagine that anything bad would happen to him. Eventually he perished in the ghetto of Lodz.

The police commissioner of Amersfoort requested that Anna Benjamin-Meijer, stateless and in possession of resident permit No. 32641, be located, detained and brought to trial. A resident of Amersfoort, she was suspected of having changed her place of residence without the required authorization. This description referred to Jews who had gone into hiding. Anna Meijer, the daughter of Philipp Meijer and Jeannette Simon, was married. She and her husband had an unmarried daughter, Erika Jeanette.
