Salomon Biegel studied medicine in Amsterdam, where he sat for his medical finals on 26 November 1891. He lived and practised as a family doctor in Gorinchem, where he was also a councillor from 1907 and an alderman from 1911. Biegel wrote the popular 'Hygiene handbook, in relation to Dutch legislation' (Gorinchem 1900), which was reprinted five times.
