Florettha, Saul Joseph and Alida were children of Barend Mozes Slagter and Henriette Polak. Except Alida, they were all yet unmarried, when they arrived in Westerbork on 31 July 1942. Alida however most likely got married in the early summer of 1942 to Jozeph Trijtel, a son of Jacob Trijtel and Claartje Cosman.
Presumably, they all might have responded to the call of 29 July 1942, when 2000 Jews received a call for the so-called “Arbeitseinsatz”, (provision of additional work in Germany). The next day on 30 July 1942, 1100 people reported at “Loods 24” at six o’clock. In the middle of the night, they were transported in twenty passenger cars to camp Westerbork,
Florettha, Saul Joseph and Alida Slagter and her husband Jozeph Trijtel were put on transport from Westerbork to Auschwitz on 3 August 1942. Upon arrival there, ± 5/6 August, they were all selected to perform “labor”, but the circumstances appeared to be in humane. Therefore it is not known exactly on which date they have lost their lives there.
The Dutch Ministry of Justice after the war ordered the municipality of Rotterdam, to draw up certificates of death for Florettha Slagter, for Saul Joseph Slagter, for Alida Trijtel-Slagter and for Jozeph Trijtel, in which has been established that they have died in Auschwitz on 30 September 1942.
