About Mozes van Straten, his wife Jeannette van Blijdenstijn and their son Manuël.

Mozes van Straten was a son of Manuël van Straten and Helena Frank. He was born as the youngest of seven children on June 5, 1891 in Herwijnen. He was a butcher by trade and he married there on 28 September 1921 to Jeannette van Blijdenstijn from Ophemert, born on 19 February 1892 as the daughter of Hijman van Blijdenstijn and Judith Docters. One son was born from this marriage: Manuël van Straten on 24 May 1930.

Jeannette van Blijdenstijn had two brothers and two sisters, namely Emanuel and Antje Jeannette, the twins who were born on 2 April 1887, Maria who was born on 5 January 1890 and Isaac on 21 October 1894. They were all murdered during the Shoah in Auschwitz and Sobibor.

A stillborn son was born in the Hijman van Straten family in 1890. In addition, as the youngest, Mozes had one brother Bernard born in 1881 and further four sisters, namely Saartje from 1882, Rosetta from 1885, Sophia from 1887 and Johanna from 1889. Saartje died in 1937, but the others were killed with their families during the Shoah.

Mozes van Straten's family lived in Herwijnen B92 and were probably arrested from their home in May 1943 and taken to concentration camp Vught. From there they were sent on 24 May 1943 to Westerbork, where they spent the night in barrack 61. The next day, on 25 May they were deported to Sobibor, where they were immediately killed in the gas chambers on arrival on 28 May 1943.
