About Henrietta de Wind-Polak.

Henrietta Polak, born 27 June 1884 in Rotterdam, was a daughter of Jacobus Polak and Vrouwtje de Jong. She married at the age of 46, on 20 August 1930 in Rotterdam  Isidore de Wind, aged 44, who was previously divorced from Elizabeth David. He was a commercial traveller by trade then and son of Levij de Wind and Hanna de Jong and born 18 July 1886 in Rotterdam.

Henrietta and her husband Isidore moved 1 March 1933 from Rotterdam to Pletterijstraat 166a in Den Haag. Isidore, yet dealer in electric articles, passed away there on 10 June 1939, whereafter Henrietta returned on 17 August 1939 to Rotterdam where also her siblings lived There, she went to the address Spoorsingel 74b, where she lived in with her sister Betje Polak, who was married to Simon Hornman. Also her unmarried sister Hendrika and unmarried brother Mozes lived in there.

On 13 October 1942, Henrietta was taken to Westerbork. Striking is, that except Henrietta, also her brother Noach and his wife Lena Stad, her sister Hendrika and most likely also her sister Betje and he husband Simon Hornman, were all carried off from their home addresses in Rotterdam to Westerbork, that same day! And they were all deported to Auschwitz on 16 October and immediately killed in the gas chambers of Auschwitz-Birkenau on arrival there on 19 October 1942: Henrietta’s brother Noach, her two sisters Hendrika and Betje, her brother- and sister-in-law Simon Hornman and Lena Stad and Henrietta herself.
