Stories complete the Digital Jewish Monument. You can contribute by adding your own story. These can be entirely new stories or additions to existing texts. Here, we explain how to add a story.

To add a story, you need to be registered as a user and logged in. If you want to add a story about a person listed on the monument, it's best to do so from that person’s individual page.

Step 1: Add a story

Go to the page of the person you want to write about. Then click the ‘Contribute’ button and choose ‘Add story’. A special form will appear for entering your text.

Title: Enter a short, compelling title here.

Subtitle: Here you can add a more detailed subtitle.

Text: Add the main body of your story here. You also have options to format the text. You can make parts bold or italic, and insert links.

Step 2: Add people

Sometimes a story involves multiple individuals, such as a family. You can link other people listed on the monument to your story by clicking on ‘Add a person’.

Type the name of the person you’re looking for and click on the correct name from the list. At the top of the expanded menu, you’ll see the tagged individuals. At the top of the expanded menu, you’ll see the tagged individuals. You can remove them by clicking the crosses. Are all the people in your story included? Then click ‘ok’.

Step 3: Add an image

Would you like to add an image to your story? You can do this via the ‘Add media item’ option. The image will appear directly above your text.

Step 5: Publish Your Story

After completing all the steps, save your story by clicking the ‘Save’ button in the top menu bar. The story is now added to the person’s page.

Are you writing a story that’s not linked to a specific person?

In that case, you can add a general story or call via the Member Contributions page. You’ll also need to be logged in or registered to do this.
